New Release-Lobby Re-opening

The Sheriff's Office is re-opening lobby services on a limited basis. Limits are being set to avoid overcrowding and make social distancing possible.

On-site inmate visitation - Visitation in the area off the lobby has resumed by appointment only. As usual, times will be limited to 30 minutes in a one-hour period and scheduled according to inmate housing assignment. The new, temporary scheduled times will be posted in inmate housing units, lobby door and our website.

Appointments can be made by inmate request or by calling the sheriff's office at 660-886-5511 and speaking with the jail.

A limited number of booths are available for visitation and only one visitor allowed per scheduled time. In the event more than one person would request a visit in the same time slot, the inmate will be allowed to choose their visitor. On-site visitors should be aware there may be some brief delays while areas are sanitized between uses. In the event of a delay, visit time will be adjusted to allow 30 minutes.

CCW permits - New permits or renewals will be done by appointment only.

Sex offender registration - Registrations will need to be scheduled by appointment.

We recommend scheduling appointments for visitation, permits or registrations Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. After business hours, those needing CCW permits or sex offender registration may either call 660-886-5511 to leave a message or email info@salinecountysheriff.com. Please make sure you leave information to be able to receive a follow up call.

Drivers license examinations - MSHP license examiners will test on Wednesdays and the second and fourth Fridays of the month from 9:30 to 12:00 and 12:30 to 3:25. Those wanting to take driving tests will need to have their vehicle sanitized and a face mask. Only applicants are to be in the lobby and those are limited to four at a time.

The Sheriff's Office lobby is always available for the purposes of making a report, applying for a protection order, posting bond or use of the inmate kiosk.

For safety of the community and our staff, we respectfully request the access of our lobby be limited to only the person needing to conduct business or visit.
