The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has the purpose of saving life and property by taking reasonable measures to prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate the effects of major emergencies and disasters, weather man made or natural.

OEM routinely assists local governments, voluntary organizations, and private industry through a variety of emergency management programs including hazard identification, loss prevention, planning, training, operational response to emergencies, technical support, and disaster recovery assistance.
